A New Found Respect for my iMac
I usually do most of my work on my PowerBook. It, after all, is the newest and most up to date computer that I own and even it is three years old. But, for the past month, I have been working nonstop on a really demanding freelance project and yesterday I finally finished it. As a result, I now have a new found respect for my original flat panel iMac, which is only between 1 and 2 years older than my PowerBook. I rarely use my iMac, but I keep it around because it is the only Superdrive I have around, since I opted for the combo on my PowerBook. I have been wanting to replace it for quite some time, but I just have not been able to justify the cost right now.
However, the fact that I would have never been able to finish my project if i wasn’t able to use my iMac to edit video while I compressed video on my PowerBook, showed me that there is still a lot of usefulness left in my iMac. It is not like if I replaced it I would get rid of it anyway. I am a person who still has the, and I mean the, original iBook. And yes it still works, in all of it’s 300 mHz, 3GB HD glory.
So, as an homage to my iMac I here post the inagural video of my iMac (Hey, I was excited!) and a couple of pictures. Sorry the video is so small (and you will need QuickTime), but it was before digital cameras and minidv cameras were cheap, and it was before either was really in fashion. And I put two of those desks together by myself! Enjoy!
