Happy Kwanzaa
It is a common practice at the end of Kwanzaa to give gifts, but the gifts are commonly made instead of purchased. I have some very creative and talented sisters that can make some wonderful things from simple things. For years at Christmas and Kwanzaa, they have given us the cutest crocheted gifts. I wanted to share some of those gifts here.
Nicole, my younger sister, probably makes us the most of these items. Although you see mine here, you should multiply these by four. She makes one for all of her sisters in their favorite color. That is why all of these items are the same color
iPod Buddy
First up is this holder here that Nicole calls the iPod Buddy. You put it on your shoulder or around your torso when you do not have pockets. You can probably tell from the condition of the pipe man that it gets a lot of use. I use it extensively around the house to hold my cell phone while I talk to people and do house tasks. I also use it those times that I listen to headphones around the house.
Trinket Box
Nicole also made this trinket box. I was greatly impressed by this gift because she said that she came up with the idea and executed it all on her own. She had to save cocoa butter jars for a while to be able to make them all, too. Each one had a different patch on the top that was specific to the receivers interests. Now you know why Mickey is on mine.
Backpack
This one is a backpack for carrying around light weight things.
Bear
The most recent gift that Nicole made for me was this bear.
As she does for all of these gifts, she made multiple bears. Here they all are.
Here you can see all of them with their owners. If you look closely, you can even see that I happen to be wearing my iPod buddy in the picture! Note: The green bear actually belongs to my niece and not a sister.
And guess who’s bear is acting up in this picture. LOL

Heart Purse
Nicole is not the only one who makes these gifts, though. Marie, my eldest sister (sitting next to me in the picture above) also makes some.
This is a cute little bag that she made in the shape of a heart. She also made one of these for all her sisters.
Most recently, Marie made us these tissue holders below.

I think that it is great that people can make such beautiful and wonderful things out of simple pieces of strings! While the skill is not one that I share with them, I guess that they still came by the skill honestly. My mother crocheted things while we grew up, and still does. She made me this afghan to match my furniture. Originally, only daughters who had children got more prettied up versions of this afghan as baby gifts after giving birth. Considering the fact that I have no children, I feel really special having received one, too.

Your sisters must really love you!
