Precious moments in the life of Urs…

Julie & Julia

Yesterday, I went to see a free preview of Julie and Julia. Before I received the email invitation, I had never heard of the movie. I watched the preview, though, and it looked interesting enough. Besides, who am I to pass up a free movie.

I ended up liking the movie a lot. Meryl Streep was wonderful in it. There were a lot of hilarious moments, especially early on in the movie. The movie tells the story of Julia Child and the influence that she unknowingly had on Julie Powell, who spent a year cooking all of the recipes from “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” and blogging about it. Amy Adams‘ character probably could have been played by anyone, while Stanley Tucci was just perfect. Unfortunately, I think most people will end up overlooking his genius in the movie.

The movie got me thinking, though. I have been working on several different goals, but I still have a very long list of other goals. There are many things that I have hoped to do in my life that I still have not done. At different times in my life, I was sure that I would have completed many of those things by now; however, I have not. Lately, I have been looking at my printed list of goals just thinking that I need to revise it. What I am wondering, though is when do you know that it is time to give up on a goal, or is it ever time?
