More Emotional Attachments to Inanimate Objects
Over the years, I have collected a significant number of iPods. If you ask me why I have so many, then I can tell the specific use for each one. Still, I can sometimes see the excessiveness of it. So, on three different occasions, I have offered one of the iPods, the 60gb photo, up to people less iPod fortunate, but it was only this last time that there was an actual taker.
I thought it would be no big deal to give the 60gb photo iPod up, but when it came time to do so, I was really regretting the decision, and even trying to give the person the saddest look possible so they would change their mind about taking it.
My specific use for this iPod was as my around the house iPod. It natively fit into my first generation iHome, and, it being the last iPod for which a dock was included with purchase, I used it to play music in my common room with said dock hooked up to my JBL Sonnet speakers (yeah, these are still kickin’). It was also the last open iPod that I had with that extra power port near the headphone port that worked with the original iTalk and my favorite iPod accessory of all time, the Nyko iTop. I had the original box and everything, so I boxed it up nicely and passed it on to the new user. Sigh. I guess I will just have to think of it as making someone else’s life a little brighter and as making way for a new iPod, or, better yet, iPhone! 
So, here is my iPod list (before giveaway) and the uses of each:
10GB monochrome 3G iPod never opened
Use: decoration (literally sits on top of a cabinet)
How acquired: gift from my job, but I already had a 30GB at the time. Never gave it away because it was a gift and my name is written in red marker on the side of the box.
60GB iPod photo 4G
Use: read the post
How acquired: Purchased at severe discount as Apple employee
4GB nano iPod black 1G
Use: smaller purses when I need more control than a shuffle (now that the classic is so thin, this is honestly rarely used), occasionally used for walking and working out

Use: one of two iPods always in my purse (one is not really enough), working out

Use: videos only, usually with a Sonic Impact V-55
How acquired: purchased on refresh
80GB classic iPod black 6G
Use: my everyday iPod. Holds my entire music library and what little video will fit on the remaining space. Now fills the shoes of the departed iPod photo.
How acquired: gift from my job, sort of…This actually started out as a 30GB 3g ipod that was given to me as a wedding gift, but it was replaced (battery replacement) a little over a year ago when, conveniently, at least for me, they were completely out of replacement parts for the 30GB, so i was issued a CRU in the form of the 80 classic
