More Welcome Than Intended

Posted By on January 19, 2011

Today, while I was at home brushing my teeth, I heard a noise outside my door. I could not figure out for the life of me what it was, so I went to look. Why did I see a woman standing outside my door moving around? I stepped back a second while I contemplated opening the door and asking her if she needed help. Then, I heard the noise again and decided to look out once more. I then figured out that this lady was simply using my welcome mat to wipe her feet! Uh, that is a little more welcome than I intended for strangers to be outside my door. LOL

Happy Kwanzaa

Posted By on January 1, 2011

It is a common practice at the end of Kwanzaa to give gifts, but the gifts are commonly made instead of purchased. I have some very creative and talented sisters that can make some wonderful things from simple things. For years at Christmas and Kwanzaa, they have given us the cutest crocheted gifts. I wanted to share some of those gifts here.

Take That Corvus

Posted By on December 17, 2010

As usual, I have an excuse for not posting as of late, and, as usual, it is not really a good excuse. I have not been slacking off on other important things. I am keeping up with work, still doing my bible study, and still generally being productive. I am even reading some books, including a Christmas focused book called 25 Days, 26 Ways to Make This Your Best Christmas Ever. However, I must confess that a lot of my time has gone to playing games. (more…)

How Unsure Becomes Amazing

Posted By on November 21, 2010

There was something about my post about Matt this year that just did not sit well with me. I just could not put what I was feeling into words. Because of that, I kept thinking about Matt probably more than usual, and I already think about him a lot. My thoughts brought me back to this post, that I figured I would just go ahead and share now instead of saving for later.

When I was first introduced to Matt, it was after some managers met with me and said something like “We’re just not sure about this guy, so we are going to put him back here with you for a while.” That was not an uncommon practice at my job. I often got the misfits, questionable folk, or just plain bad workers. They did not want them out on the floor, so why not just hide them in the back, right? (more…)

Hold My Hand

Posted By on November 15, 2010

The first official single for the upcoming Michael Jackson album Michael is now available. The song is called “Hold My Hand” and features Akon. While I am definitely not a fan of Akon, and he completely overpowers this song, I still think that it is a good song. It sounds like something that Michael would have released. There just would have been more of his vocals on it. Hopefully this is not the only good song on the album. Click more to see the video. (more…)

This is Breaking News

Posted By on November 8, 2010

The musical moment that I have been waiting for is about to come. Nevertheless, if this is a sign of what is to come, then my excitement is quelled. There was so much talk about why Sony was taking so long to release new Michael Jackson material. The answer was that they wanted to do it right. They wanted to produce something that would stand up to the expectations of his fans and be something up to par with Michael‘s other releases. (more…)

Between Friends

Posted By on October 13, 2010

I think that it is safe to call a person a friend when you spend practically all week literally side by side at work with a person and you still want to hang out with them on the weekend.

I remember that Matt and I spent many, many a weekend together playing video games. It was not uncommon to spend a Saturday with Matt at his house, Brandon’s house, Renee’s house, or whoever’s house playing video games and goofing off for a large chunk of the day. Matt and his roommates were part of an ever so small group of people that would still regularly play Halo with me, despite the fact that I was, and probably still am, really, really bad at it. A Girl with Sensitivity

Posted By on October 6, 2010

I LOVE POPCORN! I do not mean the prepackaged microwave stuff. I buy kernels to pop in my Stir Crazy, my air popper, or in the microwave using a paper bag. I also mix my own seasonings. I usually eat popcorn at least two to three times per week. Nevertheless, today, I ate popcorn for the first time in about two weeks. Here is why… (more…)

Excuses, Excuses

Posted By on October 1, 2010

I have not been writing as much as I had planned this month. Part of the reason that I have not posted as much is because my main computer has been unavailable. I recently decided to upgrade my laptop to Leopard from Tiger. It took a few tries to get everything working correctly. I will save that harrowing adventure for another post.

The other thing that I have been preoccupied with was Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story for Nintendo DS. This game is my sister’s game. It was brand new, freshly wrapped, in the package because she had bought and never played it. Since she was not playing it, I decided to borrow it. (more…)

Grown Up Raven

Posted By on September 22, 2010

I have never been a Wendy Williams fan, and there is not much substance to this interview. Still, we all know that I love Raven. Plus, Raven was so cute on this visit to the show. This is worth a watch for her fans.

The Quest for Dragon Quest

Posted By on September 14, 2010

I rarely trade-in or sell games. I do not know what it is. I just hold on to games even if I am not playing them. I still have my original Game Boy and and all of the games and accessories that I bought for it over the years (yes it still works), my Game Boy Color and Game Boy Camera, and my Game Boy Advance SP (which I got after trading in a Game Boy Advance). While I have sold a few games on ebay and Amazon in the past, I am more likely to just pass games on to my nieces and nephews if I get rid of them at all. (more…)

Detroit Jazz Festival 2010

Posted By on September 6, 2010

I had not been to any festivals downtown Detroit at all this year. I wanted to go, but I just never got around to making any of them. I did not want to miss the Detroit Jazz Fest, though, especially since Branford Marsalis was going to be there. I try to catch him whenever he is in town. This would have been my fourth time seeing him. (more…)

Happy Birthday, Macy

Posted By on September 6, 2010

While I was generally displeased with Arts, Beats, & Eats, there were a couple of things that made it worthwhile. My main reason for going was to get a chance to see Macy Gray. I was met with another treat, though, in the form of War. (more…)

Arts, Beats, and Broke

Posted By on September 5, 2010

I think that I can safely say that I will not be attending Arts, Beats, & Eats again. This event, touted as “outstanding family entertainment at a very low cost” on its own web site, was mostly a disappointment. (more…)

Spare

Posted By on September 4, 2010

Bowling is not something that I do often, nor is it something at which I perform well. When I was a kid, I had my own ball and shoes and everything. I was still never good at it, though. Nevertheless, I like to bowl from time to time. (more…)
