Speaking of Things That May Be Dying…
My 60 gig photo iPod has been acting funny. Of course I have several newer iPods in my possession, but this is the iPod that I use to play music around my home. It is the only iPod for which I have a dock, since it was after this model that Apple stopped including docks with the iPods. While I can hook my other iPods up to the speakers through the headphone port, anyone who has used a dock knows that you get better sound when you play through the dock rather than the headphone port.
So, anyway, I recently purchased the album Fearless by Jazmine Sullivan, which is pretty good album, by the way. The iPod trips up on the third track, “My Foolish Heart.” I think it does it for the fourth and fifth tracks as well. This does not happen on my newer iPods, though. They play through the album with no issue. So, I do not know if it is the iPod itself or the album.
I found a thread where people had similar issues with other albums. There is no authoritative answer, but the one person who saw results basically was able to download the album again. He said everything was fine after that. I have tried doing restoring the iPod to factory setting and then syncing it, which takes a long time with around 10,000 songs. Needless to say, that still did not solve my problem. So, for the time being, I have just been avoiding this album. Which is not good because it is a new edition and I want to get to know the music better by listening to it. I will have to figure out what to do.
Hey, I just remembered that my friend bought me a Sendsation Pocket Dock years ago. I use the dock almost everyday to sync my 60 gig photo iPod, since its actual dock is in a different room. I never thought about using it for my newer iPods. I can use this dock to get better sound out of my other iPods. The only thing is that I cannot charge the other iPods from the Pocket Dock because they are all USB, and my pocket dock is Firewire. Still, in the meantime, when I want to listen to Jamine Sullivan at home I can use this until my problem is resolved. I just hope the problem is not my photo iPod. I would be very sad if it died.
