Precious moments in the life of Urs…

Still Missing You

Eight years ago today, we lost a promising music star. I have to be honest. I did not like Aaliyah’s music when she first entered the music scene. It was not until she hooked up with Missy and Timbaland and One in a Million came out that I started buying her albums. After that, I did go back and buy the first album and continued to buy whatever came out later. It did not hurt that girl could dance up a storm. She had my respect, and I was a fan after that. Understandably,  I was deeply saddened over the news that we had lost her, especially when it seemed senseless and like it could have been prevented. It is kind of like what is now going on with MJ, huhn?

At any rate, eight years later, I do not miss her any less. I still have moments when I sit and ponder what could have been and manage to find solace in what was. So, in honor of “Baby Girl,” I salute with a tribute photo and some of my Aaliyah music library stats.

Aaliah Tank

This picture is seven years old, but I still have the shirt. I never wear it, so it is in pristine condition. Someone won the shirt and a poster in a contest and gave both to me. Nicole owns the the now laminated poster. I am such a good sister. :-D

Anyway…here are some of my stats:

Top Five Played Aaliyah songs:

  1. At Your Best (You Are Love) 131 plays
  2. Try Again 54plays
  3. Loose Rap 48 plays
  4. Are You That Somebody? 48 plays
  5. Come Back In One Piece (featuring DMX) 48 plays

Aaliyah Songs Rated Five Stars in Order by play count:

  1. I Refuse
  2. The One I Gave My Heart To
  3. At Your Best (You Are Love)

In case anyone was wondering, “At Your Best (You Are Love)” has so many plays because it is on several motivational play lists. There are a lot of other songs in my library, as I own all of the albums, but these are the ones that fall into the appropriate groups. List your faves in a comments as your tribute.

We still miss you. RIP, Baby Girl.
