Stop Bugging Me

I have had some of the weirdest and annoying mishaps lately. As you may know, I catch the bus to work. Because of this, I have to stand outside quite a bit,  and, often, I am standing in grass.

This past Friday, as well as today, I wore oxfords. Both were white with stripes. For some reason, bugs and insects have been attracted to these shirts and have been landing on them.

On Friday, I tried flicking one such bug off of my shirt, but I guess I flicked it too hard and killed it. While it was never my intention to kill the insect, the deed was done. Well, the guts of this insect were bright yellow, and now there is a stain on my shirt where this bug died. The stain is very similar to a mustard stain, and efforts to remove it so far have been unsuccessful.

Today, another bug lodged in about the same place on my shirt. Both bugs went for the area of my chest near my left shoulder. The one Friday was closer to my underarm, while the one today was closer to my shoulder itself. Today, by the time I looked down, the bug was already dead. I figure that it got smashed by the handles of my bag or purse. I tried carefully removing this bug with a tissue, and it turned out better than “yellow gut bug,” however, it still left a tiny stain. This time the stain is smaller and more inconspicious, as it blends in better with the color of the shirt’s stripes.

I am really frustrated that these bugs keep landing on me and ruining my shirts. Honestly, a person would have to be standing pretty close to me to see either stain, but you know how it is. You know it is there. You always see it. I am going to try to use vinegar on the stains next and see how that goes. In the meantime, I guess that I will continue my work day today with bug guts by my shoulder. :-)
