Precious moments in the life of Urs…

The Joys of Public Transportation

So, I work until 10pm at least once a week, and I take the bus home. You will learn why in a later post. The bus that I take home really only goes straight down one major road, except where I work. It turns down the road where I work and goes to a college. Then it comes back out and gets back on the major road. I catch the bus right where it turns off the major road because that is where I work.

This particular night, instead of turning down the street where I work and going on to the college like she was supposed to, the bus driver drove pass my street and stopped at the stop on the other side of the light, staying on the main road. She waited there a few minutes, as if trying to kill time because she knew that she was wrong.

Since it did not look like she was going anywhere for a few minutes, I ran over to that stop try to catch the bus. I actually made it there while she was still sitting. However, just as I was approaching the door, she opened it, closed it, and then pulled off. I cannot see how she could not have seen me. Oh, I think that I neglected to mention that it was pouring down rain that night and pitch black, and my bus stop is already basically in a ditch.

The bus only comes every hour, so I was stuck out there, in the pouring rain, at 10:30pm to wait for another hour to try to get home.

I called my brother to see if he would answer and come get me. Normally he does not answer his phone that time of night, but I guess God was looking out for me (as He always does) because he did answer that night. So, my brother came and got me. I went into a nearby Blockbuster and walked around to get out of the rain while I waited for my brother.

I posted a complaint online, but I doubt that anything happens with that, especially since I could not get the bus number. It was too dark, and she pulled off so fast. Ah, the joys of public transportation.

This whole ordeal made me think of that Kris Kross song “I Missed the Bus.” I was an avid Kris Kross fan back when they were around. I still have all of their albums in my library, including an album of remixes. I was lucky enough that they even came to my high school. While they did not perform, we were still able to get some autographs and pictures. Listen to “I Missed the Bus!”
