Precious moments in the life of Urs…

Too many tickets…only one Urs

So, I bought tickets to the After 7 and Mint Condition concert months ago. This was as soon as I found out that they were only $15, but a little too late for me to get as good of seats as I had hoped to get. That was okay, though. It was still pavilion/covered seating, and in a single alphabet row, as opposed to a double alphabet row. However, they were a little off to the side.

I bought two tickets because I figured that I should be able to get somebody to go with me. Boy was I wrong. The tickets were for a Wednesday night, so a lot of people that I know would be at one church or another. Hmm. Maybe that’s where I needed to be instead of a concert. Hey, I did a personal bible study earlier in the day, thank you very much.

Anyway, my sister that lives out of town happened to be in town, so, on Sunday,  I asked her if she wanted to go to the concert with me. She said that she would if she could find someone to take the kids. That sounded promising enough to me.

Then, a little later on, I remembered that often, right before a concert, better seats open up. So, Monday, I looked on Ticketmaster to see if there were any seats available that were better than my current seats. Sure enough, there were some tickets several rows up and in one of the middle sections. I knew that these were really good seats, so I go them. I figured the first tickets were purchased so long ago, that it was money long lost. I might still be able to sell them, or, at worse, make someone’s day by giving them away. I would have been fine with the latter, as long as I knew that they were not going to waste.

I bought two tickets this time around as well, just in case my sister was able to go. It was early Monday morning, and I had only asked her the day before. I knew that she needed a little more time.

So, my next plan of action became getting rid of the first set of tickets. It was still Monday morning. I decided to just give them away. It is much less of a hassle than trying to sell them, especially this late in the game. I figured that I could probably get someone to take them off my hands at work, but I decided to give my friend first crack at them. My friend asked his family, and my friend’s father said that he would take the tickets. That was easy.

Well, come Wednesday, I still had not heard from my sister. Actually, I never heard from her, and I ended up just going to the concert by myself. Then, I also got a text from my friend saying that his father no longer wanted the tickets.  So, my friend asked me if I knew anyone else who might want them, or if I wanted his father to try to find someone to take them. I said that his father could find someone else. I mean, I am not at work on Wednesdays, and we all already know how small (or nonexistent) my personal circle is, so I had no one else to whom I could give them.

I have to say that I was kind of upset about this because it was then that I realized that the tickets would, more than likely, go to waste. Who is he going to go on the day of the concert? I was also upset because I could have taken them to work in the first place and probably gotten someone to take them off of my hands. Even though it was a while ago since I bought the tickets, at that point, I still started to feel like I wasted money.

So, later on, my friend told me what the deal was with his father. Apparently, his father never had any intentions to go to the concert. Instead, he was going to sell the tickets, that I bought, for a profit for himself! What in the world?! I could have sold the tickets myself. I was trying to do something nice for some unsuspecting person. How are you going to take tickets I bought and then try to make money off of them for yourself? I could not believe it.

I guess it was when my friend told his father that he was giving him the tickets to go to the concert and not to sell that his father decided to try to find someone else to go. The nerve of some people!

So, I bought four tickets to the concert, but only one probably got used. Too many tickets, but only one Urs :-(
